On Christmas Eve night, we went over to visit the neighbors, Anna Margarite and Clemens Bohlens. It was a hoot. They speak no English, so it is really interesting trying to communicate with them. Alice has learned a few words, so she could help translate a little.
One thing that you had no problem understanding is that Ms. Anna Margarite wanted us to eat - a lot. We had already had dinner, but that did not matter. Alice had taught us to say, "Nien, danka" which is no thank you in German. It did not matter. You could say that ten times to her and she would still try to get you to eat. Poor Jason - he ate potatoes, bratwurst and several homemade cookies. She was still trying to get him to eat more.
After we ate, we all went into the living room. They had a typical German Christmas tree. It was very simple, but very pretty. We sang Christmas Carols to each other. Then we sang Silent Night together. That was so much fun. They were singing in German and we were singing in English.
We are celebrating Christmas today. As I write this, it is about noon. Back home, it is about 5:00 a.m. I bet many of you are being awakened right now by excited children who cannot wait another minute to go and see if Santa came. There is nothing like the wonder of Christmas.
We did our gifts before we left, so it has really been nice to spend Christmas day only focusing on the true meaning of Christmas - celebrating the birth of our Saviour with good friends.
Love to all!

Merry Christmas Adams Family!
Yes, it's 5:23 am here and I was awaken by the our precious Connor though it wasn't to see what the Santa brought. He lost his passey in his bed...LOL. and I just happened to go to the computer room to send a Christmas greeting to ya'll today.
I hope you got our comment last night. I don't see it on here. Anyway, we miss ya'll. This blogspot thing is great! We are thouroughly enjoying hearing about your trip to Germany. We know ya'll are having an awesome time.
Well, I better go get the coffee ready and finishing some packing. We're to my hometown today say a little prayer for our traveling mercies today. Of course, we'll be stopping in Montgomery at our faviorite spot. Hopefully, we'll get lunch there if anything is Open. I believe it is the Taylor exit.
Take care and we love ya'll.
Merry Christmas!!!
God Bless and love,
Leanne
PS. Tell Anna and Lily, we missed them sitting behind us in church this week and last night. Connor misses his girlfriends, too!
I bet it was a nice quiet service without the girls behind you!
I finally figured out how to attach the slides to the individual blog and so, I deleted the blog that just had pictures. I guess it deleted the comments along with it.
Taylor Road exit is a great place to stop. As for things being open, I am not to sure about that. Maybe by Christmas afternoon a few things will be open.
Hope you all have safe travel. See you soon.
Feliz Navidad from the Shirer family. We returned from Cozumel on Christmas Eve and although we tried to leave Ross with the Customs official, he wouldn't take him. He and the girls had an interesting stay in their stateroom. Poor boy, he's lucky that he's not shark bait. Robyn & Rachel just don't appreciate him!!I hope the girls are being sweet and haven't had to get out and walk anywhere!!!!
Thank you so much for the blog. I get to re-live childhood memories. I was Anna's age when I visited Germany.
We are ready to plan a church-wide trip...the cruise was fun and Ross knows all the secret passages!!! Who needs a GPS!!!! Merry Christmas! We love you!
Wow-look at these early birds posting so early....we had to wake our precious boys to tell them Santa had come. Yes! Santa does still come! If you don't believe, you don't receive....that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Plus I think there's something similar to that in the Bible...you have not because you ask not?
I am with you Jennifer - that is what I tell my girls. I am so sorry we missed the wedding. I know it was beautiful!
Love you all!
The wedding is Saturday, the 29th. Everything's still a go although Liz's dad, Creal, is still in the hospital. They found out that his back pain was the result of gall stones which will require surgery to remove and relieve the pain.
Froliche Weinachten!
Your trip looks like an awesome experience! I LOVE Germany during this season!
Have been awake since 3am...convinced the girls to go back to bed for ONE more hour, so I guess it's been since 4ish! That's when we let them wake Josh and Jack! Has been wonderful chaos and many blessings.
We love you all and miss you greatly!
Love, Paola
Oh, it is so good to here from all my friends. I am so blessed. I cannot believe that in 6 short months you all have become so near and dear to my heart. Thank you for sharing our journey with us. I wish you were all here with us.
Jennifer - I will be thinking about you and yours this weekend. I was thinking the wedding was the 22nd. My dates are all mixed up.
We head out in just a few hours to Paris. It is Anna's birthday surprise, however, I think she has a little clue. Lily keeps telling her we are going to Turkey. Please keep us in your prayers as we are traveling tomorrow.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. It is very cold here tonight. We had a wonderful Christmas. 25 for lunch, 31 for dinner. Lots of family. It was wonderful. It's 11 pm here and the kitchen is closed. Poor David, this morning when the girls were opening their presents, and yes Jennifer there really is a Santa, David said, "This is the last Christmas we will have all our girls still living at home." He has been an emotional train wreck on and off all day. I am sooooo glad y'all set this blog up. I really feel like I am there with you. We miss you very much and cannot wait for you to get back. Be careful!!! We love you all very much. Tell Lily I told Sam Merry Christmas for her.
Diane, I bet it is not as cold there as it is here! Okay, only 56people on Christmas Day...come on Diane, can't you do better than that!!! HA! I would be insane. God gives us all different gifts. Poor David - this is going to be an emotional spring for him.
We're off to Anna's birthday surprise....more updates coming soon.
Love to all!
